Saturday Morning Breakfast - Home Made Pancakes with Worms336 viewsOne of our week-end treats is to have pancakes with "real" (i.e. fake) maple syrup. Marjorie cooked up a batch on Saturday. They looked good, but my first bite felt, er, "crunchy." I looked down on my plate and saw this little critter. Where had it come from?! A further search yielded a veritable collection of moths which we seem to have imported in some dates or nuts from Dubai. Yum, yum. We had toast and spring cleaned the cupboard!!

Whitecroft Lawn - Spring 1991175 viewsWe hired Corscadden Associates, a firm of landscape architects in Wales, to improve the undulations in our lawn, and to make our pond more visible from the house. They did a detailed specification, obtained bids, and recommended the low bidder. Unfortunately, the low bidder's plan was to simply scrape away all of our topsoil and plant turf on the clay. The turf all drowned, and we had another firm do the replacement --- paid for by Corscadden's professional indemnity insurance. This is the original work, with the front of Whitecroft (and well) on the left.
