Old Whitecroft Kitchen -- Chase and Marjorie195 viewsGosh, I barely remember when the kitchen looked like this. The black metal (and cane) chairs came from Hawaii. I think Marjorie was trying to prove that she could b taller than Chase -- if she stood on a chair.

Magnolia Blossom - Whitecroft201 viewsI love Magnolias. Great, huge, pure white flowers. It's a shame that they seem to fall apart so quickly, so it's hard to bring them in the house for a big floral display. (Unless there's some secret that only Southern belles learn, while drinking juleps.) This magnolia bud is in our large tree, Whitecroft, on a hot summer afternoon.

Marjorie Showing Off Her Tattoo207 viewsA warm summer afternoon in the garden, Whitecroft. Taking a brief break -- we spent the day happily chasing dogs around the garden, playing with the hose, etc. Don't get to do much of that in England!

Yellow-Jacket Wasp178 viewsWe seem to have a wasps' next in the ground next to Kea's and Pau's bench. I took about a dozen photos --- this is the only one where the wasp is in focus. There's actually a guide on the internet to tell you what the markings mean. I think they mean "nasty -- avoid." Apparently you can freeze the nest, or pour boiling water down the opening. As if!

Repairing the Non-Return Valve - Whitecroft Track205 viewsWe had problems on Friday and Saturday because, without notice, Severn Trent needed to replace the non-return sewer valve. Apparently they couldn't inspect it in March because they couldn't open the manhole cover. But nothing was done, until our neighbour's house flooded with sewage. Looks like this guy got the manhole cover open! July 29 2005

The Tewkesbury Ferry238 viewsThe other day, when coming home on the M50, I spotted a sign to the ferry. The ferry? Today we went to have a look, and there really is a ferry that runs several times a day from this beautiful spot on the River Avon (actually near the motorway) to Tewkesbury. That's Bredon Hill in the background.

Whitecroft Sunset - 5 August 2005229 viewsOur neighbor farmer, Thomas Hawkins, planted a cereal crop on the field next to Whitecroft. With it all rolled up nicely into bundles, Marjorie, Tapa, and I went to have a look at the big rolls at sunset. Whitecroft is just visible in the trees.
