Fairoaks Mermaid and Marjorievu 3114 foisFairoaks Mermaid has just given birth to ten piglets. I took this photograph from the door of her pig ark. Marjorie is looking in the little hatch, and from Marjorie's viewpoint you can see the piglets. Mother was calm and considerate throughout. For those who think pigs are dirty, look at how she gleams, and look at how clean she keeps her home.

Kevin, Marjorie & Andy as Midwivesvu 1441 foisOur Berkshire sow is giving birth to her litter of piglets. It's a glorious early summer afternoon, and Marjorie, Kevin and Andy are acting as the midwives.

Kune Kune - Gloucester Crossvu 5243 foisDon't ask me how, but somehow Chase's kune kune pigs mated with our Gloucester Old Spot boar, and this piggy is the result. When I tried to take her photo she kept trying to hide behind the water trough. I guess I can't blame her for not wanting to have her photo snapped.

Kune Kune - Gloucester Old Spot Crossvu 1574 foisLooks like something from Star Wars.

Betty (Gloucester) and Friendvu 2353 foisBetty, our Gloucester cow, is hopefully a week or two away from having her first calf. Here she is with one of our Aberdeen Angus heiffers. Note the roof thatching in the background. Rural England on an early summer afternoon.

Tamworth Curiosityvu 2424 foisWe were in one field watching the Berkshire pig give birth. Naturally, the Tamworth pigs in the next field were nosy --- particularly if any of our activities involved food. Convenient how the snout can go through stock fencing.

Nosy Pigvu 1439 foisTamworth pig showing me that his nose can go right through the fence, thank you.

Watching the Berkshire Sowvu 3413 foisThe pig ark has a small window at the end so you can see what's happening at the other end of the ark. Our Berkshire sow was giving birth to a litter of ten piglets.

Westbrook at the Powick Parish Fetevu 2267 foisWe cooked Scottish | Kobe burgers at the Powick Parish Fete, May 28 2005. We also brought Westbrook Peter Lad (born 1 March 2005) --- our Berkshire boar. He was fine --- as though going to a fete was something he did every week.

The New Pig Lawnvu 1260 foisStill growing, with our seeds from Hurrells. They promise that the resulting turf will be pig resistant -- but for how long?

|
The Thundering Herdvu 5506 foisI had to keep running in front of them, and they'd just chase me faster and faster.
