Woodman's Cottage - Compacted Gravel303 viewsThe excavation of about 4 inches of soil completed. The gravel has been spread and compacted, so it's almost as solid as the road. Photographed on the morning of September 19 2006. Nigel Roberts, from Albion Landscapes standing proudly with his shovel.

Compacting the Gravel276 viewsIn the front of Woodman's Cottage, morning of September 19 2006. A beautiful, sunny, warm monring. This work was done for us by Albion Landscapes. They were the lowest of three bidders I contacted. They were very fast, and they did an excellent job.

Whitecroft Lawn - Spring 1991152 viewsWe hired Corscadden Associates, a firm of landscape architects in Wales, to improve the undulations in our lawn, and to make our pond more visible from the house. They did a detailed specification, obtained bids, and recommended the low bidder. Unfortunately, the low bidder's plan was to simply scrape away all of our topsoil and plant turf on the clay. The turf all drowned, and we had another firm do the replacement --- paid for by Corscadden's professional indemnity insurance. This is the original work, with the front of Whitecroft (and well) on the left.

Front of Whitecroft, Minus the Lawn - Spring 1991127 viewsAll of the topsoil and turf are piled on the left. These were removed, and the new turf planted directly on the clay --- whereupon it drowned. This work was specified and overseen by Corscadden Associates, a firm of landscape architects who should have known better. Their PI insurance paid for the re-do.
