Lord's Wood Cottage Soak-Away390 viewsThomas Hawkins installed this underground soak-away in a corner of Lord's Wood for the waste from Lord's Wood Cottage. I understand that they've buried porous stones in a chamber that they've excavated, and then have covered it with a black membrande to keep the soil from entering the chamber. We have our fingers crossed that this will stop the pollution into Lord's Wood.

Lumber at Roadside383 viewsAwaiting pick-up by the truck from the sawmill. This is stacked on the triangular area owned by us in front of Woodman's Cottage: it has not been possible to have the sawmill pick up at the staging area behind Lordswood Cottage. 29 October 2005

Looking Over The Fence, Lord's Wood Cottage353 viewsThe brick chicken coop on the left. This photograph is taken looking towards the North-West. The post and rail fence is in the foreground, the clump of trees in the centre of the photograph are where the fence was previously located.

Cars Parked at Lord's Wood Cottage337 viewsThe old (apparently Victorian) chicken coop is shown by the red arrow on the right. Our deeds to the Lord's Wood track show that the boundary line runs next to this chicken coop. The fence line is considerably to the east of this wall.

Lord's Wood Entrance to Bransford Road318 viewsOur car is parked on the triangle of land that's part of the Lord's Wood title deed, and provides access to the Colletts Green to Bransford Road. The plan is to pave or gravel (with compacted gravel) this area in the next few weeks. When we commence woodland operations, the sawmill needs (I'm told) to be able to pick up the cut trees from next to the road, so this will become the staging area for that.

Sewage Pipe - Woodman's Cottage313 viewsWe have dug away some of the soil to expose the end of the pipe. Offending raw sewage is coming onto our property, on the eastern side of our track down to Lord's Wood.

New Lord's Wood Gate312 viewsSome neighbours objected to our green burial planning application because they thought --- incorrectly --- that Lord's Wood was some sort of community "amenity." It is, in fact, our private property, and contains no public footpaths. To demonstrate this, we have reluctantly put up an electric fence and gate at the entrance.

The Wooden Seat - Lord's Wood307 viewsWe went to look at the woodland yesterday (27 Oct 05) and were pleasantly surprised to find that the woodsmen had cut a seat from one of the stumps. Here's the seat, and Marjorie having a rest.

Back of Lord's Wood Cottage304 viewsPhotographed from the back of Lord's Wood Cottage, looking towards the south. The brick chicken coop is shown in the centre of the photograph, with the metal leaning on it.

Woodman's Cottage - Compacted Gravel303 viewsThe excavation of about 4 inches of soil completed. The gravel has been spread and compacted, so it's almost as solid as the road. Photographed on the morning of September 19 2006. Nigel Roberts, from Albion Landscapes standing proudly with his shovel.
