Birchfields 1303 x angesehenThe ten acre field at Birchfields, with the crush and small "management" pen in the foreground. We planted all of the trees --- on the left and right --- after we purchased Birchfields. The green "grass" is actually weeds: we are in the process of renewing the grass, and these weeds need to be sprayed off before the grass is planted.

A group of the world's leading visual artists defy all accepted notions of the "exhibition" in an experimental time-based show, held not in an art gallery but at Manchester's Opera House. The title of the piece relates to "postman time" --- the exhibiton is delivered to the audience rather than the audience walking through it in their own time.

Latch on Stable Gate379 x angesehenThis Came electronic latch was installed by Automation Gates in early 2005. The stable gate is exposed to direct wind, and the installers indicated that the wind on the gate was breaking the arm that connected the gate with the motor. At the same time, the motor was replaced with a different --- and presumably better --- motor. The latch meant that when the gate closed it would be supported, against the wind, on both ends. But the latch didn't always engage --- usually because of the wind.
