Latch on Stable Gatevu 379 foisThis Came electronic latch was installed by Automation Gates in early 2005. The stable gate is exposed to direct wind, and the installers indicated that the wind on the gate was breaking the arm that connected the gate with the motor. At the same time, the motor was replaced with a different --- and presumably better --- motor. The latch meant that when the gate closed it would be supported, against the wind, on both ends. But the latch didn't always engage --- usually because of the wind.

Chase and my Teddy Bearvu 603 foisI think this is a great picture of Chase, and it's the last known photo of my teddy. The teddy was purchased at the gift shop in Kapiolani Maternity Hospital the day I was born. It had a red felt tounge and wooden eyes. It went with me to university (my mother hid it in my suitcase). When Marjorie and I moved to the U.K. in 1986, Chase asked if she could keep it. And then my ex-wife, the Rev. Marcia, made Chase give it away. Lost teddies. Stinky ex-wives.

The Lodge at Koele - Lana`i, Hawaiivu 341 foisLocated in the "highlands" of Lana`i, with a gorgeous jacaranda tree. Marjorie and I spent an afternoon by the pool, never thinking that the sun was actually going to burn us. The cool, upcountry air tricked us --- we were both quite sunburned.

Sunapee Harbor - New Hampshirevu 4291 foisWe took the dogs for a Memorial Day drive. In the middle of the countryside we saw a small sign pointing to Sunapee Harbor.
