Tamworth Boar, Waiting for the Vet6786 زيارةThe best way we could think of isolating the Tamwroth boar so the vet could check his back leg was to lure him into the stock trailer with food. In the end, he managed to push open the metal gate and escape.

The Vet Giving our Tamworth Boar an Injection5014 زيارةAnn Carman, from The White House Vets in Malvern, comes out on a Saturday and Sunday to see our Tamworth boar. He's a bit lame, but Ann found nothing in his paw (trotter?) and no apparent broken bones. An injection of a pain killer and some antibiotic is needed, but the first bends Ann's needle. Big tries to keep the boar in place while Ann tries again with a stronger needle.

Westbrook Having A Rest701 زيارةWestbrook is a Berkshire pig, or kurobuta. We brought him in to the stable yard to clean him up for a few photos. He loved the fact that this came with some celery, but after a while he decided to lie down on the cool concrete for a bit of a rest.

Westbrook Enjoying A Beer1246 زيارةWestbrook is a Berkshire pig --- what the Japanese call kurobuta ("black pig"). Kurobuta pork is highly prized in Japan, and we've decided to take it one step further and feed our Berkshire pigs the same diet we feed our Kobe cattle. This, of course, includes beer. Here Vic is giving Westbrook some nice cool beer on a hot summer afternoon.

Westbrook Having A Laugh955 زيارةWestbrook is a Berkshire boar, or kurobuta ("black pig") in Japanese. I think happy animals produce the best meat --- and happy animals make us all happy. Westbrook is a happy pig, with a good sense of humour. And one of our alpacas is in love with him, and follows him everywhere.
