View from Whitecroft Driveway - Spring 1991408 viewsReplacing the front lawn. All of our turf and topsoil are piled on the right. This was removed, and the new turf planted directly on the clay. Not a good plan: the new turf drowned and needed to be replaced.Feb 24, 2008

Front of Whitecroft, Minus the Lawn - Spring 1991377 viewsAll of the topsoil and turf are piled on the left. These were removed, and the new turf planted directly on the clay --- whereupon it drowned. This work was specified and overseen by Corscadden Associates, a firm of landscape architects who should have known better. Their PI insurance paid for the re-do.Feb 24, 2008

Whitecroft Lawn - Spring 1991432 viewsWe hired Corscadden Associates, a firm of landscape architects in Wales, to improve the undulations in our lawn, and to make our pond more visible from the house. They did a detailed specification, obtained bids, and recommended the low bidder. Unfortunately, the low bidder's plan was to simply scrape away all of our topsoil and plant turf on the clay. The turf all drowned, and we had another firm do the replacement --- paid for by Corscadden's professional indemnity insurance. This is the original work, with the front of Whitecroft (and well) on the left.Feb 24, 2008

Whitecroft Lawn Repairs - Spring 1991359 viewsOur original turf was removed, and the idea was to smooth the lawn and plant new grass. Unfortunately all the topsoil was removed as well, so the entire project had to be redone. This is the front lawn, looking towards our pond.Feb 24, 2008
