Merlin -- A bit of Guernsey | Kobevista 6264 vecesWe recently purchased Carole, a pure-bred Guernsey cow, as our "house cow." The farmers who sold us Carole are getting out of the dairy business, so their bull, Merlin, was set to go to the chop. The Guernsey Cattle Society tells me Guernsey beef is delicious, so Merlin has had a bit of a reprieve. He gets to eat grain and grass and drink beer --- for a year.Agosto 18, 2004

Kiko in the Vectravista 2729 vecesWe took Kiko for a ride in the car (all he does is sleep in the back), but it was clearly too short for him. His arthritis means he doesn't like to jump down anyway, but he just sat in the car, giving me stink eye. August, 2004Agosto 18, 2004

Tapa and the Daisy Sprinklervista 3844 vecesWe bought this silly yellow daisy sprinkler at the BBC Garden Show --- for Tapa. We knew he'd chase the water all over the place. And he did, for hours. When we shut it off, he'd stand at look at the limp daisy, waiting for it to do something. So we'd have to turn it on again.Julio 17, 2004

Scottish | Kobe Topside with Home Grown Veggiesvista 9459 vecesBeestings is the first milk from a cow (otherwise called colostrum). We've just acquired a "house" cow, Carole. She has a new calf, but there's plenty of colostrum. A farm treat is beestings Yorkshire pudding. So Marjorie made them --- and what better to have with a slow-cooked, tender Scottish | Kobe roast and vegetables grown here at Lucies Farm.Julio 17, 2004
