Battleship AuroraПереглядів: 234On October 25 1917 the battleship Aurora was ordered to take to sea. At 9:45 PM a blank shot fired from her forecastle signaled the start of the assualt on the Winter Palace, which is said to be the start of the October Revolution that led to the overthrow of the Czar. The Aurora is now preserved in St. Petersburg.

The Electric Meter ReaderПереглядів: 145The electric meter reader arrived and couldn't find the meter. I had to hobble down the track and show him that it's a little door that's part of the fence. Fortunately, he had a key to open the door. (We've asked Scottish Power for a key about a dozen times, and they keep sending us the wrong key.) By the way, doesn't everybody take a photograph of the meter reader guy?
