The Six PearsПросмотров: 375We bought these six pears from Solstice in London. They're from France, and the tips of the stems have been sealed with red wax. But the pears looked a bit beat up when they arrived (I took this photograph shortly after we opened the box). They taste great --- but I'm not overly fond of all the cuts and bruises.

Replacement "Red Wax" Pears from Solstice in LondonПросмотров: 191These are the replacement pears sent to us by Solstice --- they don't look much better than the original "Red Wax" pears. They were virtually inedible --- fell apart in a matter of a day. After a delay, Solstice refunded the purchase price.

Alpaca Beneath A Pear TreeПросмотров: 162The pear tree is in blossom on a warm spring day. At one time the pears grown in this orchard (only a few trees remain) were then made into cider in the old Cider Mill at the base of our driveway.
