Repairing the Non-Return Valve - Whitecroft Track205 viewsWe had problems on Friday and Saturday because, without notice, Severn Trent needed to replace the non-return sewer valve. Apparently they couldn't inspect it in March because they couldn't open the manhole cover. But nothing was done, until our neighbour's house flooded with sewage. Looks like this guy got the manhole cover open! July 29 2005

Sewage on Colletts Green Road461 viewsHigh rates, undersized sewers. We have complained about this for years, but get the old "budget" story. The sewers were probably fine until the housing estate was built. No increased resources were put into the sewer, so the water bubbles up on Colletts Green Road, and then flows away into the River Severn through the run-off system.

Looking Towards Bransford233 viewsColletts Green Road, looking towards Bransford. The water fountain in the middle of the road is the sewer. It flows from the sewer into the highway drainage, and then down into the River Severn. Fortunately the height of the road keeps it from coming onto our property.

Colletts Green Road363 viewsThe undersized sewers are again not up to the task. The water bubbles up, and then flows from the sewers into the highway run-off system. So sewage is escaping and going down into the River Severn. We have complained about this for 15 or more years, but nobody does anything about it. We installed our own mini sewage treatment plant so we weren't dependent upon the main sewers.

The Broken Water Meter176 viewsWe had a leak at a pig trough. Pavel couldn't find a way to turn off the water to the trough, so turned off all of our water. When he tried to turn it back on, he broke off the valve next to our water meter. Severn Trent came along and painted a big blue arrow and gave us some bottles of water. The pile of blocks was to try to hold down the lid to the water meter/valve.

Water Leaking Up From the Broken Valve93 viewsThe concrete blocks were a failed effort, by Pavel, to hold down the metal "door" to the meter/valve.

Water Leaking Down Whitecroft Track94 viewsThe water from the broken valve running its way north down the Whitecroft track.

Water Leaking Down The Track86 viewsThe toppled blocks are the site of the leak, and the water ran down the Whitecroft track, heading to the north. It took Severn Trent a day to repair this small problem.
