Repairing the Non-Return Valve - Whitecroft Trackvu 205 foisWe had problems on Friday and Saturday because, without notice, Severn Trent needed to replace the non-return sewer valve. Apparently they couldn't inspect it in March because they couldn't open the manhole cover. But nothing was done, until our neighbour's house flooded with sewage. Looks like this guy got the manhole cover open! July 29 2005

Sewage Outfall from Woodman's Cottagevu 256 foisA second photograph, taken on September 19, 2005, of the ditch on our property, adjacent to our track down to Lord's Wood. This sewage outfall is coming from Woodman's Cottage, owned by Thomas Hawkins.

Farewell lunch!vu 329 foisEmilia (in the green sweater) had been with us for 18 months and was off to pastures new - York to be exact. She was a fun colleague and we will miss her. Here Grzegorz, Zbigniew, Christopher and Elizabeth wish her well. Craig and I were outnumbered by our Polish colleagues!!

Sewage on Colletts Green Roadvu 464 foisHigh rates, undersized sewers. We have complained about this for years, but get the old "budget" story. The sewers were probably fine until the housing estate was built. No increased resources were put into the sewer, so the water bubbles up on Colletts Green Road, and then flows away into the River Severn through the run-off system.

Looking Towards Bransfordvu 235 foisColletts Green Road, looking towards Bransford. The water fountain in the middle of the road is the sewer. It flows from the sewer into the highway drainage, and then down into the River Severn. Fortunately the height of the road keeps it from coming onto our property.

Colletts Green Roadvu 364 foisThe undersized sewers are again not up to the task. The water bubbles up, and then flows from the sewers into the highway run-off system. So sewage is escaping and going down into the River Severn. We have complained about this for 15 or more years, but nobody does anything about it. We installed our own mini sewage treatment plant so we weren't dependent upon the main sewers.
