Standing In Our Cabin on the QE2530 mol gekuckt ginnMarjorie was seasick during most of the crossing of the North Atlantic, so she spent a lot of time in our cabin. During the last day or so of our trip the seas started to calm, so Marjorie was able to see some of the ship.

The Laurels on Selma Avenue - Hollywood528 mol gekuckt ginnWhen Marcia and I were first married (1971) we lived at The Laurels at 8017 Selma Avenue in Hollywood --- at the time near Schwab's Pharmacy on Sunset Boulevard. Our apartment was in the upper right hand corner of this California pink building. When we drove by it in 2001 --- some 30 years later --- nothing had changed.

The trees in the background were manchineel trees, common near the beach in the Caribbean. One little worry: "Standing under the tree is hazardous if it is raining. The water passing through the leaves and fruit will cause burns and blisters if it comes in contact with your skin." Fortunately, it was sunny.

During the late Hellenistic and Imperial period local worthies engaged in what seems to us now a fantastic orgy of construction, carving Greco-Roman faades from the living rock. Marjorie stands near a few stone pillars.
