Lanters at the Bab al Shams800 viewsAs Marjorie and I went off to have an evening cocktail, these lanterns in a small courtyard were turned on, and it was quite magical.

Stable Gate at Lucies Farm800 viewsLooking from the latch end towards the motor. This motor, installed in early 2005 to replace an earlier motor, is mounted on a separate, metal gate post, and it opens and closes the gate (or at least it did, before it was broken by the windstorm) using the metal arm.

The Kune Kune - Gloucester Old Spot Cross799 viewsThe particularly ugly pig is my daughter's. The pig is a cross between a Kune Kune pig (from New Zealand --- translates to "fat and round") and a Gloucester Old Spot pig. We never quite understood how the cross took place, but it did --- and produced this rather strange pig with wattles. They're called piri piri or dew laps that hang from the lower jaw, and their purpose is not known.

Our Oldest Pig799 viewsThis pig is a cross between an Iron Age pig (itself a cross between a Tamworth and a wild boar) and a Gloucester Old Spot. She must be nearing 16 or 17 years old, but she's still the fastest pig we have.
