Lord's Wood Cottage Soak-Away796 zobrazeníThomas Hawkins installed this underground soak-away in a corner of Lord's Wood for the waste from Lord's Wood Cottage. I understand that they've buried porous stones in a chamber that they've excavated, and then have covered it with a black membrande to keep the soil from entering the chamber. We have our fingers crossed that this will stop the pollution into Lord's Wood.

Latch on Stable Gate796 zobrazeníThis Came electronic latch was installed by Automation Gates in early 2005. The stable gate is exposed to direct wind, and the installers indicated that the wind on the gate was breaking the arm that connected the gate with the motor. At the same time, the motor was replaced with a different --- and presumably better --- motor. The latch meant that when the gate closed it would be supported, against the wind, on both ends. But the latch didn't always engage --- usually because of the wind.

The Truckman on Crookbarrow Road796 zobrazeníWe had to abandon the Truckman here on the Friday night of the great rainstorm of 2007. We then had all sorts of problems with MMA, the insurance company that we pay for rescue/recovery services. I spent an hour in the Truckman, in the pouring rain, waiting for MMA to answer their 24/7 help line. They never did.

A one-sided article by David Smith of The Observer about the reaction of the Grassos to the housekeeper episode of "Personal Services Required." In my opinion, Mr. Smith wanted to write an article critical of the RDF editing. He interviewed me for his piece, and when I said that Marjorie and I felt we'd been treated fairly in the programme, no mention was made of us. Isn't this also "unfair representation?"
