Camel Parade Number 1Просмотров: 8899A bit like the Cow Parade that we saw in New York City. The Dar Al Masyaf had many camels throughout the gardens, all painted with a different theme. This camel has a Dubai theme.

Marjorie's New Polo ShirtПросмотров: 7475We had a young Polish lady --- Agnes --- help us on the farm. She left one of Marjorie's Polo shirts to soak overnight --- but apparently soaked it in acid. She came to us from a recruitment agency, Claire Meade Ltd. They described her as "house proud." We didn't pay their fee.

Panoramic Image of the Bridge Between Wake and Peale IslandsПросмотров: 6877As best I can tell from the map of Wake Island this is the bridge between Wake Island and Peale Island. The water beneath leads into the lagoon. It appears that the bridge is under construction. I think this photo --- actually two slides stitched together --- is circa 1953.

Unblinking Eye -- Cao Dai Temple, Viet NamПросмотров: 6291The unblinking eye is the symbol of the Cao Dai faith, founded in 1926 in Viet Nam. "Cao Dai venerates a host of different figures including Victor Hugo, Sun Yat Sen, and Trangh Trinh, a 16th century Vietnamese poet and philosopher. Its ethics are based in the belief in the reincarnation of the soul." There are 7 to 8 million adherents, mostly in Viet Nam.
