In Bed at 140 Dowsett Avenue1385 viewsMe (on the left), Shauna (the baby), and Nana. My guess is late 1955. This isn't the best photograph -- no faces showing. I've included it anyway because I thought the bedside table is interesting. I love the old dial telephone, the 1950's shoji lamps. But my favourite thing is the bottle of lager and cigarettes. I never remember my grandmother drinking --- but larger! How images can be shattered through the magnification power of Adobe Photoshop.

In The Garden -- Dowsett Avenue3141 viewsI'm playing with cut flowers. I'd guess this is late 1949 or early 1950, taken in the garden at 140 Dowsett Avenue. The great expanse of lawn and garden that ultimately became (sadly) 156 Dowsett Avenue.

The Family329 viewsMy mother, father, and grandparents Nana and Baba, at 140 Dowsett Avenue. I am guessing that this is circa 1948.

Pushing A Lawn Mower422 viewsThe Health and Safety people would be thrilled to see me pushing what appears to be a gas-operated lawn mower --- with no shoes. Makes my toes curl even now, over half a century later.

Orchids308 viewsI've always loved orchids. Here I am, in the dirt at Dowsett Avenue, surrounded by orchids. Circa 1950.

Birdie and a Cocker Spaniel513 viewsTaken at 140 Dowsett Avenue (I recognise the green tile). The inevitable dog. And a wonderful retro television set.

Craig in the Model Village - at 140 Dowsett Avenue384 viewsPlaying in the back garden at 140 Dowsett Avenue in Nuuanu, creating my own little "model village," 1958. I can remember painting the clay pots to look like houses, and (of course) there was the obligatory running water. Didn't take long for it to turn into mud.
