Marjorie at the Hotel Metropole, Hanoivista 313 vecesHanoi hadn't welcomed many tourists when we visited. We had reservations at another hotel -- built by Cubans -- and it was awful. We learned that the Hotel Metropole had just been refurbished and it was day one of its "soft" opening. We were there in a flash. Even in Hanoi Marjorie managed to fill a shopping bag.

Helicopter Overheadvista 357 vecesTapa started barking the other night, and when he and I looked outdoors, there was a helicopter hovering across the street, pointing its searchlight about. It then went down our track, and away past the back field. I learned the next morning that there had been police cars and dogs chasing someone. The fugitive tried to get over our gate -- but the top is electrified (to keep foxes out). This is a photo of the helicopter.

Holiday Inn Garden Court - Helsinki Airport, Finlandvista 413 vecesBecause our inbound flight was late, we missed our connection to St. Petersburg in Warsaw. This meant a side-trip to Helsinki, and we still arrived in St. Petersburg a day late. This hotel, at the airport, was clean but basic. Nobody to help with our luggage, so Marjorie had to put it on a chair we "borrowed" from the business centre. She pushed the luggage to our tiny room on the chair.

Sunapee Harbor - New Hampshirevista 4289 vecesWe took the dogs for a Memorial Day drive. In the middle of the countryside we saw a small sign pointing to Sunapee Harbor.
